How to prepare for MOP

Preparing for MOP --

 

1. Get some heirloom gear for your panda monk.  The single most important piece is the weapon since you won't be killing jack with random nor quest reward greens.  I am personally going with a 1h sword.

 

2. Forget about glyphs.  Primes are gone in MOP and major/minors are all cosmetic.  I'm sure people will still charge a hefty fee for the new ones but nothing sounds really important.

 

3. Talents will be reset.

 

4. Back to gear, I think people will want leather and cloth come cata.  Get busy farming.  You have one month left.

 

5. Sellable pets.  I imagine people will want these.  There is an uncommon cat I got from some twilight adepts, I forgot where though.  Sell those for gooold!

 

WOW Points

The currency conversion coming with Mists of Pandaria is going to happen in three stages, and this is how we plan for it to progress:
With Patch 5.0.4 on August 28

    Valor points will be converted to Justice points, and Conquest points will be converted to Honor points.
   
        Neither of the resultant currencies (Justice and Honor) will have an enforced hard-cap at this time.
   
   
    The current Arena season will end.
    Players will no longer be able to earn Valor or Conquest points (bosses will drop Justice, Arenas will be closed).
    Items formerly purchasable for Valor/Conquest will be available for Justice/Honor.

With Mists of Pandaria on September 25

    Valor can be earned again.
   
        Characters can earn up to 1000 Valor per week, and carry a maximum of 3000 Valor.
        Daily quests, random Scenarios, random Heroic dungeons, and all levels of raiding will reward Valor.
        Valor will be used to purchase ilvl 489 gear in Mists of Pandaria.
       
            The Klaxxi, Golden Lotus, Shado-Pan, and August Celestials factions will sell this gear.
            Revered reputation with each faction will be required.
       
       
   
   
    Conquest will become earnable.
   
        There is a cap of 4000 Conquest points.
        Arenas and Rated Battlegrounds reward Conquest.
        It will be used to purchase ilvl 483 gear from Pandaren battlemasters on the Great Wall.
   
   

With Mists of Pandaria, Patch 5.1

    We currently plan to upgrade the Valor system as Ghostcrawler described in Mists of Pandaria Looting Explained in the 5.1 patch, allowing you to upgrade your gear using Valor points. We'll have additional information once Mists of Pandaria launches and we get closer to the 5.1 patch release.

Looking back

Looking back, we can really see where it went wrong -

 

1. EA should have just made KOTOR3.  Was there anything that compelling to make it a 'MMO'?  Well, besides the promise of monthly revenue?

 

2. If it looks like WOW, smells like WOW -- here's the thing, EA.  There were already like ten WOW clones that came out before you.  You're just getting in the line of fail.

 

3. 500 million!!! and 500k subs per month is 90 million a month... it really is TORtanic!

 

The real question -- which would you rather... SWG or SWTOR?

Objective complete.

 

So many other things left to do:

- Raise paladin3's mining skill to 525

- Raise paladin5 to level 85 (from 82)

- Raise paladin6 to level 85 (from 74)

- Raise paladin10 to level 70 (from 40)

 

I don't need to do any of those as I already have four 85's, and I assume I will be trying out a panda/monk come MOP.

 

Some alternate options:

- BG a little, probably with a hunter

- stuff?

 

What I like to do for fun:

- BGs (sometimes)

- Scarlet Monastery

 

What I should try:

- healing

- getting better at discipline priest

 

I should have done better at organizing my alts, as I have a random alliance on my heavy horde server.  bur.
